Studying medical and healing practices in China would be my number one reason! I just returned from my three week Janterm in Kunming, China, and can hardly wait to continue my international traveling - something I would not have had the opportunity to experience at any other college or university. It was AC's unique global mindset that first attracted me and has since impressed me, and which continues to change me. Working side-by-side with Chinese practioners, I studied and experienced Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) treatments - such as accupuncture, massage, and cupping - as well as delved into the theory and philosophies behind these medical traditions. Aside from my medical studies, I visited Buddhist temples, met a reincarnate Buddhist lama, and was emersed in a culture and field quite different then my own. Now how many English majors can say that? Thank you Austin College, and the Annual Fund, for making these sort of experiences possible.
